This picture was actually taken today!
Working on my capturing movement picture hopefully I will be able to get one outside tomorrow this was just before we left for school this morning.
In no particular order and actually all taken on 4/27-sigh it has been a long week and next week will be a busy one with last minute cross-country travel involved. But I don't want to just skip days so we are going to call these picture by their hypothetical numbers. The first two are from the 3rd grade field trip to the two museums in Kodiak and the Russian Orthodox church. Aaron and I both were able to go with Caleb it was a great time and a beautifully sunny day for walking around "downtown" Kodiak.
Composition exercise trying to capture a Spring in Kodiak picture and having trouble finding a picture that conveys that feeling.
An oldie but goodie picture from way back (2005)I'm making up the rules as I go along!
Day 112
This week has been brutal as I try and get my studies wrapped up. The sad part is I have barely laid hands on my camera and the pictures I am taking aren't coming out right. Last night I had a dream I was being squeezed through a very small tunnel while trying to get into a large room. Crazy stress dream!
The kids and I made this Easter Advent Garden to celebrate Passion week. Each night we light a candle and read a portion of Scripture that corresponds with the Passion week. Sunday night we lit one candle and read the Triumphal Entry. Good Friday and Easter weekend we will not light any candles and Sunday we will celebrate the Resurrection.
Today was my birthday! Pheww it was a really long day, extra duties at work (in which I was totally soaked by a massive pot of chili) and a fun little party for one of Peach's sweet friends who has the same birthday as me! Add to that Aaron is out of town and keeps calling me from places like Suite 100 and the Brewhouse (stinker). Not to worry we will celebrate with Aaron on Sunday when he gets back, and I know he is totally spoiling me and bringing back gifts-but Caleb was my sweetest boy today. His class had a party at school as well and he specially requested to bring home the last cupcake to me. Carried it home on the bus all by himself and had it waiting for me when I got home from the party.
I also learned from a master how to make kulich today. Kulich is a Russian Easter bread made by the Russian Orthodox women every year. Tomorrow there will be a big bake sale down town at the church, but Bertha is the master Easter Bread maker and she was mixing up her dough today at the school. She used to be a lunch lady at East you see, back in the olden days when everything was handmade-everything from the bread to the spaghetti sauce. I had a wonderful visit with her and learned how to make Easter bread.
This picture came out so grainy! It wasn't the best one I took tonight but I loved her little hands that were shielding the lights so she could find me in the crowd.
Beautiful day today. I had great news this morning. Caleb is feeling better and it's almost Friday. Another DOF picture for class, I need to find a place to post all the "other" pictures I take everyday, choosing just one is to hard.
Working on depth of field for this weeks class. Peach and I set up house tonight but I think she was a little disappointed because I hogged the whole thing. She said she wishes she could live in a doll house, I kind of agree they are easier to clean!
I had to have fun with this picture today. I have been planning this shot for a month and then all of a sudden realized it was already THAT day. This will go into my hurry up and take the shot file.
Day 98- The first fire and s'mores of the year. Seth, Tina and Ryan joined us for dinner. We had a wonderful time.
Day 99- So nice to have Aaron home on a Saturday! Slept in a little bit, donuts for breakfast and then just general running around and an afternoon movie. Great day! This picture is part of my photo assignment for this week on composition.
I've got a lovely box of chocolates, I didn't dare open them to take a picture in the daylight or the kids would have tried to eat one. These are my birthday chocolates from my Mom. She sent a big box of goodies today which is almost like Christmas. The ladies at the Post Office all know if a package is from Grandma as it is covered in funny pictures and comics. This box had "Eagle River" candy for me and the kids too. Plus Easter outfits for the kids, they will all look gorgeous in their new Off Island Easter outfits.
What a busy, crazy day! This weekend just flew by, which was great since Aaron was at work. I actually didn't even touch my camera today, but the boys were shooting away. So, I was forced to go check out there cameras for some pictures. April showers are doing their job, melting snow and filling salmon streams. Rain away! It's beautifully predictable.
The amount of good lighting today for any kind of photo was a big fat zero. It rained and rained and the wind blew. We did need some rain (seriously, I know) and it hopefully washed all the mud away and started to melt some of our lasting snow piles. Spring is right around the corner.
I'm a tired out kindergarten teacher with one husband, three kids, two cats and a brand new puppy dog on the way. I love summer, sunny days and pretty much always being warm!
